Experiences
From the moment we’re born, new experiences are key to our growth as individuals. That’s why they’re intrinsic to life at Inspīr Carnegie Hill. We bring in fresh programs and perspectives from a variety of engagement partners to support our philosophy of caring for the whole self. Each day, we purposefully integrate all of our Nine Core Elements into daily activities—keeping our residents engaged and vital.

For 145 years, 92nd Street Y has been serving its communities and the world at large by bringing people together and providing exceptional, groundbreaking programs in the performing and visual arts, literature and culture, adult and children’s education, talks on a huge range of topics, health and fitness, and Jewish life. Our residents are able to take advantage of their diverse programming, events, and classes offered through the Himan Brown Senior Program. Additionally, we’ve built the Living Voice project, developed by award-winning composer Beth Styles to assist members at 92Y living with dementia.

The Jewish Museum works with the Inspīr team to customize gallery programs, hands-on art-making workshops, and more to give all Inspīr residents the chance to connect with art and history. Their signature dementia program, JM Journeys, provides unique experiences specifically for Oceana residents. This partnership offers a free museum membership to Inspīr residents, along with programming both at the museum and on-site at Inspīr Carnegie Hill.

Hilarity for Charity® (HFC) is a nonprofit movement, led by Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller Rogen, dedicated to raising awareness, inspiring change, and accelerating progress in Alzheimer’s care, research, and support through the engagement of millennials. We presented “It’s All in Your Head: Live!” to benefit Hilarity for Charity at 92Y in February 2020, and we are working with them to produce future residency programs to serve as another great resource for our Oceana families.

The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. Their mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Inspīr Carnegie Hill uses their Habilitation Training for all Inspīr associates, to ensure that all staff—from nurses to dining to concierge—understands dementia and its impact on the individual and families of Inspīr.

Sweet Readers is a weekly program for Oceana residents. This intergenerational program at Inspīr Carnegie Hill connects local middle school children to residents living with dementia. Together, they write poetry, complete art projects, read, and most importantly, connect. Sweet Readers allows for strong resident engagement—providing purpose and accessibility to art and music, all while aiding brain health.

Laughter on Call is a program at Inspīr Carnegie Hill that integrates laughter therapeutically into our daily practice. Our staff is trained to incorporate these improv techniques into their everyday care and assistance. In addition, we provide laughter programming for residents themselves, including improv classes and stand-up performances to keep engagement high and smiles wide.

By partnering with The Actors Fund, Inspīr Carnegie Hill integrates entertainment and arts professionals into the rhythm of each day through dance, music, storytelling, acting, and so much more. By engaging with New York City’s finest actors and artists, this programming keeps residents moving while also stimulating their brains.

Stage Access™ delivers iconic performing arts content directly to Inspīr Carnegie Hill residents. Highlighting the best dance, opera, theatre, and concerts from around the world, Stage Access brings the finest performances right to our residents through its on-demand streaming platform. This content is available in both 2D and virtual reality, providing a truly entertaining and immersive experience. Inspīr Carnegie Hill residents enjoy free access and exclusive first looks at new programs, special events, and “Inspīr’d content” created jointly by Stage Access and Inspīr.
