Inspīr Embassy Row, scheduled to open in Washington, D.C.’s prestigious Embassy Row neighborhood in early 2025, has achieved a significant milestone: becoming one of two senior living communities in the capital to earn the SAGECare Platinum Credential. This accomplishment highlights Inspīr’s dedication to providing exceptional care for LGBTQ+ seniors, reinforcing its commitment to inclusivity and compassionate service.
Setting a New Standard in LGBTQ+ Care
To receive the coveted SAGECare Platinum Certification, over 80% of Inspīr Embassy Row’s staff, including both management and non-management personnel, completed intensive training focused one the needs of LGBTQ+ seniors. The comprehensive program covered topics including LGBTQ+ history, modern-day challenges, and culturally sensitive approaches to caregiving. The result is a team equipped with the knowledge and empathy to support LGBTQ+ residents fully.
“At Inspīr Embassy Row, inclusivity is at the core of our values,” says Tim Cox, General Manager at Inspīr Embassy Row. “This certification reflects our deep commitment to creating an environment where every resident feels respected, honored, and understood, particularly those in the LGBTQ+ community.”
Inspīr’s Legacy of Inclusivity
The location of Inspīr Embassy Row adds another layer of significance to this achievement. Nestled in one of Washington, D.C.’s most culturally rich and diverse areas, the community is poised to mirror the neighborhood’s spirit of global inclusivity. Embassy Row has long been known for its international charm and intellectual vibrancy, making it the perfect setting for a senior living community that values diversity and open-mindedness.
Michele Giordano, Executive Director of SAGECare, lauded the achievement, stating, “Inspīr Embassy Row’s Platinum Credential is a milestone not just for the community but for the entire city of Washington, D.C. This marks the second Inspīr location to achieve this certification, following their Carnegie Hill community in New York. Inspīr’s dedication to inclusive care for LGBTQ+ seniors across multiple locations is both inspiring and essential.”
Looking Ahead: A Culture of Diversity and Engagement
Inspīr Embassy Row’s mission to provide inclusive care doesn’t stop with certification.
